Job Description
Akkodis currently has an Embedded Firmware Engineer position with a client located in Rochester, NY. This is an onsite position, so the person needs to live within 40 miles of Rochester, NY. No C2C or agencies allowed with this position.
Rate Range: $60.00/hour to $70.00/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Firmware Engineer to join our client’s embedded systems team. In this role, the person will work directly with experienced engineers to develop firmware for ARM and ATMEL microcontrollers. This is a hands-on opportunity where the person will learn and contribute to projects involving embedded software design, microcontroller programming, and testing of real-time systems.
Key Responsibilities:
· Designing, developing, and testing embedded firmware for ARM and ATMEL microcontrollers. Knowledge of NXP RT1064 microcontrollers is a plus.
· Write, debug, and optimize C code for real-time applications. Knowledge of MCUXpresso IDE is a plus.
· Troubleshoot issues related to hardware/software integration and performance.
· Knowledgeable of RTOS. FreeRTOS is a plus.
· Work on peripheral integration, including GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, PWM, ADC, and timers.
· Participate in code reviews and collaborate with senior engineers on design improvements.
· Assist in creating technical documentation for developed firmware.
· Participate in cross-functional team meetings to provide insights into firmware development progress.
Required Qualifications:
· Degree in Computer Engineering Technology (CET), Computer Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), or Electrical Engineering (EE).
· Strong understanding of C/C++ programming, especially for embedded systems.
· Familiarity with ARM Cortex-M and ATMEL AVR microcontroller architectures.
· Experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters is a plus.
· Good problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn in a collaborative team environment.
· Strong communication skills to effectively share progress, issues, and ideas.
Preferred Skills:
· Knowledge of digital and analog circuit components.
· Basic knowledge of Html, CSS, JavaScript, CGI, and JSON.
· Basic networking experience.
