Job Description
We are seeking a top-notch professional Executive Housekeeper to join our team. This position involves full-charge laundry care, wardrobe care, and cooking. The ideal candidate should be a team player with excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude to ensure a smooth-running home.
Responsibilities:
Laundry & Wardrobe Care:
- Handle full-charge laundry care, including the Principal’s clothing, bed linens, and duvets.
- Manage wardrobe organization, seasonal closet changes, and wardrobe maintenance.
- Expertise with fine linens and delicate fabrics, skilled in steaming, pressing, mending, and fabric care.
- Inspect all clothing and linens for stains, discoloration, and necessary repairs.
- Keep an inventory of items sent out for cleaning.
- Assist the Caregiver in packing and unpacking for Principal’s travel, sorting, and cataloging clothing (both photo and written inventory).
Cleaning & Housekeeping:
- Perform general housekeeping and deep cleaning of bedrooms, bathrooms, and common areas.
- Dust, mop, polish, vacuum, sweep, and sanitize fine surfaces.
- Travel occasionally to East Hampton when the family is in residence for extended periods.
- Knowledge of specific cleaning supplies and their appropriate use. Ensure supplies are always available.
- Set up essential oil diffusers, incense, and candles for morning/evening use.
- Load and unload dishwashers; ensure all items are polished and clean before shelving.
- Order and manage back stock items for everyday use and travel via Amazon.
Food & Meal Preparation:
- Prepare basic meals for the Principal, family, and guests. Display a willingness to learn the Principal’s preferred healthy meal preparations.
- Perform deep cleaning of the kitchen according to a schedule with the chef.
- Serve at small/large dinner parties and daily meetings at the residence.
- Organize daily grocery inventory and pantry in coordination with the chef, anticipating the calendar and unforeseen meetings.
- Manage beverage supplies/refills from basement storage.
- Fresh juicing (training provided if needed).
- Prepare meals for private travel when the chef is away.
Additional Duties:
- Answer the house phone.
- Provide weekly status updates to the Chief of Staff (CoS) to ensure awareness of all house-related issues or concerns.
- Meet and greet guests and vendors.
- Receive deliveries, open, sort, and put away; maintain a log of deliveries.
- Ability to bend, lift up to 25lbs, climb a step ladder, and clean/sanitize the bathtub.
- Tech-savvy with Apple products and app-based home entertainment systems.
- Occasionally cover for the Caregiver overnight (up to 3 times monthly) with per diem compensation in addition to salary.
- Manage additional larger house projects as assigned when the Principal is not in residence.
- Run occasional errands in the neighborhood or with the driver.
Requirements:
- Experience working with high-end and specialty fabrics requiring hand washing or dry/wet cleaning.
- A high standard of work and excellent experience in similar roles.
- Comfortable with technology, especially Apple products and text-based communication.
- Seeking a long-term assignment; their last housekeeper was with them for over 25 years!
Position reports to:
Chief of Staff (CoS), coordinating with the Chef and Caregiver for special house projects.
