The Role:

Congo Brands is seeking a Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager to join our team full-time. The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager will oversee the activity of the Quality Assurance department and staff - developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the organizations products and/or development processes. The Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager will report directly to the General Manager and will work closely with the plant leadership team.

This role is on-site at our Louisville, KY headquarters.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage processes to ensure that products meet required specifications for quality, function, and reliability prior to delivery. Develop practical standard operating procedures.
  • Identify and set appropriate quality standards and parameters for products.
  • Communicate quality standards and parameters to QA team, product development team, and other appropriate staff.
  • Coordinate product testing processes and participate in product testing.
  • Identify and analyze issues, bugs, defects, and other problems, particularly when problems recur in multiple products; recommends and facilitates solutions to these issues.
  • Review client, customer, and user feedback.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and policies.
  • Work closely with state and federal agencies such as local agencies, USDA and FDA.
  • Work closely with suppliers, co-manufacturers and co-packers.
  • Lead, hire, and train quality assurance team members; oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the departments (including performance evaluations, disciplinary action, and more).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to travel: 30% a month.

Key Skills and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science (or field related to the products being developed) required.
  • 4+ years of experience in related field required, with supervisory experience a plus.
  • Must have food manufacturing experience and exposure to food manufacturing verification processes.
  • FSMA certification is a plus.
  • Sanitation experience a plus.
  • Previous work with implementing food safety and quality systems.
