The production artist will work under the supervision of the art director and their primary responsibilities will include: Collaborating closely with the art director. Following a development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time. Executing brand standards. Proficient in visual language. Producing content on tight timelines. Staying up to date with current graphic design trends, techniques, and software. Preparing and packaging press-ready files based on supplied specifications for several types of printing. Preparing and packaging final files based on supplied specifications for several types of digital applications. Making various formats of supplied artwork production-ready and resolving any artwork issues that arise during production. Maintaining production files, including fonts, images, logos, and other artwork. Making corrections and modifications to client proofs as requested. Processing photography; including cropping, retouching, editing metadata, and uploading to an image portal. Taking photos with an iPhone (company-supplied) for social media. Image sourcing: locating stock or original photography, understanding copyright laws; understanding resolution options and optimal enlargement sizes. Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in design or other related studies is preferred for the production artist position. 3-5 years of professional experience. An online portfolio demonstrating clear knowledge of graphic design, print production, and digital applications. Print and digital design experience. Strong attention to detail. Ability to translate creative concepts into executable projects. Process-oriented self-starter. Strong time management and organizational skills. Highly organized with the ability to multi-task. Proficiency in all Mac-based, industry-standard software programs including, but not limited to: Adobe Creative Cloud – InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, Microsoft Office, and Acrobat. Knowledge of the Windows platform. Comfortable using cloud-based software (DropBox, OneDrive). General understanding of project management tools (Trello). Willingness to take photos at on-site company events with a company-provided iPhone. Photo editing and retouching skills; including editing metadata and batch-processing images. Knowledge of creating and working with templates and style sheets, including page formatting of copy, placing photos and artwork, as well as producing multiple versions. Knowledge of all steps required for the print process and an understanding of production methods to ensure designs can be produced for print delivery.
