About the Position:

The Sourcing Category Manager in this role will drive the procurement objectives surrounding metal extrusions, hardware, and MRO at CRL, including finished goods, and raw materials, and make/buy decisions.

In addition, responsible for identifying, selecting, cultivating, and maintaining strategic sources for key product lines as defined by the overall Supply Chain vision. This role will manage the key vendor relationships and ensure ordered products are purchased at optimum cost and received within the stated timeframe.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation and execution of cross-functional category strategies to drive excellence across cost, quality, delivery, and innovation. Maintain and improve strategies over time to stay on top of the market
  • Build the Category project pipeline, monitor progress, and report on the status, challenges, and impact of activities
  • Understand industry trends and anticipate risks & opportunities. Communicate with internal customers in a timely and transparent manner
  • Develop plans to meet or exceed critical KPIs within the category, including internal objectives and supplier performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support initiatives of importance to OBE and our customers (e.g. regulations, make/buy decisions, sustainability.)
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers
  • Support CRL's Innovation projects and new product introduction plans, including the assimilation of ideas from the supply base
  • Contribute to continuous improvement at CRL, inside and outside of the Supply Chain activity
  • Work closely with current CRL vendors to ensure on-time deliveries, consistent quality, an uninterrupted supply chain, and best pricing.
  • Proactively review the marketplace to identify potential sources to ensure continuity of supply and/or set up alternate sources of supply aligned with the Supply Chain strategic plan.
  • Handle supplier relationships to monitor shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates, or prices and report such changes to the internal stakeholders promptly.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve any/all procurement-related challenges.
  • Understand & communicate market dynamics & price movements
  • Analyze spend for vendors and service providers to define portfolio strategy
  • Lead quality improvement program for vendors and service providers
  • Analyze inventory and payment terms' financial impact on CRL
  • Deliver price-saving projects as defined by the procurement manager
  • Lead supplier development program as assigned by the procurement manager
  • Keeping parts and vendors' master data up to date

Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of Purchasing experience with 3+ in a manufacturing environment with Data Analytics experience.
  • Experience with category management and procurement execution
  • CPIM/ISM/CIPS or equivalent is preferred
  • Experience with SAP is preferred

Salary Range: $120K to $145K Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope
