Tallahassee State College is excited to announce a full-time opening for the position of IT Consultant in the Information Technology Department . Were looking for someone who shares our commitment to fostering a vibrant campus community.

What Youll Do
As an IT Consultant, youll play a key role in providing essential technical support to students, faculty, and staff, ensuring access to reliable technology for learning and instruction. You will assist students with device connectivity and instructional technology access. For faculty , you will maintain and support classroom technology , presentation systems, and instructional tools to create seamless teaching experiences . Within the department , you will work to streamline procedures , provide technical training for tier one staff and Work-Study students , and collaborate on technology solutions and security initiatives to enhance efficiency and protect digital resources.

The scheduled work hours will be Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM .

Day-to-day, youll be responsible for:

Technical Support & Systems Maintenance

• Provide tier two technical support via phone, email, and in person for all IT services, including computers, printers, scanners, audiovisual systems, and other instructional technology.

• Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, and networked IT systems to optimize performance and reliability.

• Troubleshoot Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS devices, along with applications and peripherals.

• Diagnose and resolve issues related to network connectivity, system performance, and security vulnerabilities.

Technology Consultation & Research

• Analyze user requirements and recommend hardware/software solutions to improve efficiency and meet institutional goals.

• Research and evaluate emerging technologies to assess their potential impact on instructional and administrative functions.

• Provide technical consultation to faculty, staff, and other stakeholders regarding the use of IT resources.

Training & Knowledge Sharing

• Develop and deliver training sessions for tier one support staff and Work-Study students on new technologies, troubleshooting techniques, and IT security awareness.

• Maintain technical documentation, including troubleshooting guides, user manuals, and standard operating procedures.

Security & Compliance

• Collaborate with IT security teams to implement and enforce cybersecurity best practices for endpoint devices and user systems.

• Monitor and respond to security alerts related to malware, phishing, and unauthorized access.

Who Were Looking For
Were seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:

• High school diploma (or equivalent) plus five (5) years of experience in IT support, system administration, or instructional technology

• OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS operating systems.

• Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and networked environments.

• Ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies, applications, and devices.
